HEADLINE: "YOUNGSTERS SHOULDN'T SMOKE SAYS BILL BRADLEY...and the cigarette makers agree!
ILLUS: HEAD SHOT
COPY: Read this important message from Bill Bradley, Princeton University basketball captain, Rhodes Scholar and number one draft choice of the New York Knickerbockers.
Hi. Ever notice you never see a ball player in a cigarette commercial? Know why? Because a lot of responsible people think kids shouldn't start smoking.
They're right. When I played in tournaments around the country I saw lots of kids in the stands...smoking.
I think it's all wrong. Now, lots of articles and medical reports have been written about smoking.
I'm asking you young people not to touch a cigarette until you have the age and experience to evaluate this published information. Adults can and do understand this material. They have the mature judgment that comes with age. Talk to your folks.
I'm pretty sure they'll join me in asking you to wait...wait until you're old enough to make a mature decision about cigarettes. Thank you.
TAG: The cigarette makers publish Bill Bradley's statement in the interest of American Youth.
