Daily Doc: TI Decides What Goes on Death Certificates

Title: Strategic Plan for the Tobacco Institute, September, 1989
TI, Sep 1989
Bates #: TIMN0361642/1686

April 5, 2000

One must ask how any industry can publicly spend decades reassuring people (whether directly or indirectly through widespread appealing advertising) that its products are safe, while at the same time its trade group is working furiously behind the scenes to "defeat," "repeal," "modify" and "preempt" all regulatory proposals that would allow doctors to make reference to their products on death certificates.

It's macabre.
