BHS teens take up anti-smoking fight

Bakersfield High School junior Clay Beaudette admits he's more interested in learning about video production than he is in promoting anti-smoking campaigns.

But that doesn't mean the aspiring film student doesn't believe in what his video production class is doing.

He's one of about 20 students at the school making video-based public service announcements to discourage classmates from smoking.

"As long as one person quits, we did our job," Beaudette said Wednesday, the national "Kick Butts" anti-smoking day. "Our whole goal was to inform people so they can make their own decision, not just tell them smoking is bad and to quit."
