Michael Berkey says the cash flowing in from cigarette sales is a considerable difference from just a couple of months ago before Iowa lawmakers increased the cigarette tax by one dollar.

"We noticed an increase in our sales, basically went back to where we need to be," said Nelson's Shells Michael Berkey.

Berkey, a smoker himself says before the increase Minnesotan's would go to gas stations south of the border.

"We didn't think it was gonna happen, and dreadfully it happened and welp we're just gonna tax cigarettes from our own state," said Barkey.
