Inmates accept smoking ban

The state's prison inmates seem to be suffering through their nicotine withdrawals in relative peace, although there's an emergency response team in place for the correctional system in case the cravings go really badly.

Three days into a total ban on inmate tobacco use at Mount Olive Correctional Complex, state Division of Corrections Commissioner Jim Rubenstein said things are going smoothly.

The division banned inmate smoking at the Fayette County facility March 1. By the end of the month, inmates will not be allowed to smoke at any of the state's prisons.
