Former Rep. Joseph DioGuardi told WABC radio that Gillibrand's tenure defending Phillip Morris in the mid-1990s and her subsequent stint as a counsel to then-Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo would be targets in his long-shot campaign to unseat her.

"While the tobacco industry was perjuring themselves about the nonaddiction of tobacco, she was their main adviser with a major law firm," DioGuardi said. . . .

"Former Congressman Joe DioGuardi was an accountant for big tobacco," the spokesman, Glen Caplin, said.
